This week the folks at Spotify have revealed a feature they call Daily Mix, showing users what they’ve heard and what they might want to hear next. This is a sort of playlist, as it were, allowing users to add or subtract from said list each day as each list evolves. This list is made with Spotify’s smart algorithms which see what the user has been listening to, creating an old/new/really new set of songs for that user to listen to next.
With Daily Mix, Spotify hopes to engage users in a relatively new way. While it’s the goal of every streaming music provider to drive users to new music as well as their favorite old tracks, Spotify’s method here is to push harder. Instead of just offering up playlists of new music by real humans that’ve made said lists, this method intertwines new music with the user’s favorites.
Daily Mix works with all users, both free and premium, and is being launched first on iOS and Android apps for the platform.
The more you use Spotify, the better the playlists made for you become. You can also tell us what you like and what you don’t like: Tap in the Now Playing view to like a song, which automatically saves it to your Liked Songs playlist Your Library. Tap in the Now Playing view to remove it and we’ll remember for next time. Every family member invited to Premium Family gets their own Premium account, so you can each play your own music whenever you want. You don't need to use each other's login details or schedule time when you can use Spotify.
“Daily Mix allows you to select which songs you want to favorite and which songs you want to remove, further customizing your listening experience,” said a Spotify representative. “Daily Mix provides an expansive playlist tailored to you, minus the effort that goes into creating the perfect listening session.”
Users may see Daily Mix appearing in their Spotify app as early as this afternoon. If a users decides to join Spotify just to see how Daily Mix works, they wont be able to. Not right away. Instead, new users will be able to access Daily Mix after “approximately” two weeks of listening.

Spotify suggests that this new Daily Mix feature will be delivered to additional platforms “soon.”
